Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

We're supporting a growthstage B2B software company that distributes applications through a major enterprise platform marketplace. The business is seeking a CTO to lead technical strategy, platform architecture, and engineering execution while scaling a lean, distributed team.

The Role

You'll serve as a handson executive who owns technology outcomes: architecture, reliability, security, and delivery. You'll partner closely with Product to ensure the roadmap is feasible and sequenced appropriately, and you'll introduce platformnative AI capabilities and AIassisted engineering practices responsibly.
Responsibilities

• Represent technology in companylevel planning; communicate risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies
• Own platform architecture and predictable delivery in a thirdparty platform ecosystem (packaging, distribution, security reviews, upgrade paths)
• Translate business strategy into technical roadmaps, staffing plans, and operating rhythms (planning, sprint cadence, release management)
• Define guardrails for scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability; set standards for documentation and observability
• Incorporate platformprovided AI services into customerfacing features where they add measurable value
• Champion AIassisted development (code generation, testing, documentation) with appropriate governance and metrics
• Build, mentor, and retain a highperforming engineering organization; establish career ladders and leadership development
• Improve engineering effectiveness using metrics beyond velocity (quality, reliability, predictability, team sustainability)
• Step in to unblock teams or support highimpact releases; uphold security, privacy, and compliance requirements

Qualifications

• Executive engineering leadership in B2B SaaS with ownership of strategy and delivery
• Direct experience as an ISV on a major enterprise platform (marketplace distribution, packaging, security review, managed releases)
• Recent, handson implementation of platformnative AI in production features
• Strong application architecture background; familiarity with modern frontend stacks and API design
• Track record of scaling teams in midsized organizations (~25-200 employees)
• Clear communicator, decisive under ambiguity, collaborative with Product/Design/GTM
